The new tea time

Robert Coombs, d’origine australienne, est un lunetier à part puisqu’il est à la fois designer, bijoutier et ferronnier. Des compétences croisées qui le poussent à créer des lunettes très originales. Sa nouvelle collection « 4 O’Clock » (distinguée par un Good Design Award 2015) a été inspirée par "le bonheur de prendre un verre un vendredi après-midi, après une semaine d’intense travail et avec la perspective du week-end" dixit le créateur. Simple, très simple.

Enfin, pas si simple, car les montures et les branches sont taillées dans un seul morceau de titane plat, un travail quasi impossible, avec des charnières en argent ou en or 18 carats, l’ensemble assemblé à la main. Ces modèles 4 O’Clock sont « le nouveau tea time » du design qui mêle la facilité à la complexité, la convenance britannique à la décontraction australienne, un exercice de style dont raffole Robert Coombs.

Her new collection "4 O'Clock" (distinguished by a Good Design Award 2015) was inspired by the happiness of a drink on a Friday afternoon, after a week of intense work and with the prospect of the weekend. Simple, very simple. Well, not so simple in reality, the frames are all cut from single flat pieces of titanium joined by sterling silver hinges individually made by Coombs (some are made from 18-Karat gold) and then assembled by hand.

These collection 4 O'Clock is « the new tea time » design that blends the ease with complexity, the British convenience to Australian relaxation, an exercise in style that loves Robert Coombs.
